For the price the Parker IM Roller Ball is an excellent pen. Nice feel in your hand (has some weight to it) and the roller ball performs well. May not be for foks who don't like rollerballs, but otherwise a excellent choice!

(major) pro's:
- very smooth writing;
- nice color - not too bright, not too light;
- metal barrel - very sturdy pen
(very minor) con's
- remember not to lose the cap;
- pen gets a little heavy and out of balance (for those with small hands) if writing with cap on. I wish it was retractible.
- if writing on thin paper (college notebooks, etc) you can see the writing on the other side of the page. It doesn't leak, but is pretty visible.

Parker Frontier Stainless Steel Chrome Trim Fountain Pen Medium Point Review

An entry level pen that I got for 7 euros and pleased me.
This is a stainless steel version, a bit heavier than the plastic ones and a bit too heavy for me. I prefer the ABS plastic ones.
However the SS pen is a great pen for the price. The nib is rated as medium but I agree that is a bit broad. Writes softly and smoothly. The other Frontier I have, a ChromaFlair with plastic barrel, has a fine nib and is better suited to my wrting. In any case Parker nibs are broader than the rest.
Overall I think for the price the Frontier line is better than other Parker's lines like the Vector or the Jotter.
Writing with fountain pen is a pleasure...

Look up the Lamy Safari pens. They're a little bulkier, but they're built better, look better and less cheap, and they have some of the best low-priced fountains I've ever had the pleasure to buy. They're listed as only $30, only slightly more expensive than this.

(More customer reviews)Vector is Parker's answer to the array of nouvelle lightweight fountain pens that have come on the market in recent times. Like many of its competitors, Vector utilizes cartridges to make for cleaner easier use for fountain pen novices or those wanting to use something a little different than the standard cheap Bic disposable. Much like today's lightweight ballpoint pens, the Vector is quite lightweight and is also very stylish, streamlined, and attractive. The Vector is a little thicker than a standard ballpoint, making for a nicer writing experience, but may not be as thick as some may want. The refills aren't always easy to find outside of a stationary store or pen shop, but thanks to online they're also not as hard to find as you may think. The pen operates without the mess and staining usually associated with fountain pens thanks to the largely contained cartridge operation. While the nib does seem rather cheap compared with the Parkers of old it's still a nice fountain pen that gives your everyday writing use a touch of flair!

(More customer reviews)I enjoy professional looking pens. The trouble was that many use rollerball inks that skip and dry slowly on the page. The mass produced gel pens have won many people over to this fast drying, smooth gliding technology. However, the refills for these mass produced pens have been designed not to work in the professional looking pens.
With these refill I upgraded my Duofold ballpen to a Duofold Gel. The results are excellent with all the features of gel technology.
I have found many companies are giving away good looking tradeshow pens that take this same refill.
I could not find this refill in my local big box office supply store. Even so the best price was here. I highly recommend this refill.

(More customer reviews)I was really skeptical when I was about to buy this pen. It did not look like the original Jotters or the fountain pens, Parkers are known for. When these guys finally came in the mail, it surprised me. They are a bit taller than the Jotters, and quite skinner. I really do enjoy these pens. Also they come in fine point Black color, so its a change from the medium points you use from the Jotters. The arrow clip is bigger and longer and its just a great pen to look at.
I still can't say if I prefer these over Jotters, but they are really great.

Lamy Logo Brushed Finish Medium Point Fountain Pen - L06M Review

(More customer reviews)I saw the report of flimsy support for the nib on another review - I can't report on this. I haven't had any problems, but I'm generally gentle with fountain pens, I don't like using a lot of pressure. ( I don't think that's the best way to use a fountain pen, but that's just my opinion. )
The logo looks lovely, very modern and stylish - unlike almost any other fountain pen, it's sleek and streamlined. The cap snaps very solidly over the tip, and secures firmly over the back when open. I had absolutely zero problems with ink flow. Ink moved at the first touch to paper, and I never had to wet the nib or scribble a bit to get it to write.
Lamy's safari actually writes a little better, in my opinion, but also looks like a kid's toy. This pen has the style and look to accompany it's performance. I'll probably be carrying the safari wherever I go -- in a bag, in a notebook -- but this is the pen that I want to be seen writing with.
If all you need is a pen that writes, look at the safari. But if you want classic style without the bloated cigar-pen look almost every fountain pen has, this is a great buy.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this as a stocking stuffer for my Sweetie last Christmas (2006). I chose it for it's stylish design and classic good looks. It was a good choice. He just loves this pen, says it's very comfortable to hold and writes smoothly with no skipping or blots of ink. In fact he likes it so much he refuses to take it to work, so that it won't grow legs and walk away when his back is turned. All of his other pens sit idle now as this is the only one he uses when at home.
Although it looks very elegant, feels good in the hand, and writes smoothly, it's just too bad though that this pen has not improved his penmanship.....
