Cross Tech 3, Satin Black, Multi-Function Pen, with Black and Red Ballpoint Ink and .05mm Pencil (AT0090-3) Review

This pen is quite useful, and it has been quite reliable. I work in a job that requires me to carry a red pen and a blue or black pen, so this fits the bill well. The only problem is the small amount of ink in the refills and the difficulty in obtaining more refills. The erasers have been easy to find at the local office store, and it takes standard .5mm leads, such as Pentel hi-polymers, so those are also easy to buy. If not for the difficulty in finding replacements for the tiny, quickly depleted refills, this pen would be right up there with my Pilot Knights as one of my favorite pens. In answer to the refill problem, I found out today to my surprise that Staedtler multi-action ball point refills work perfectly well of Cross refills are not available. Another good thing about this pen is it is immune to the quality drop in Cross pens since they began mass manufacturing them in China rather than producing them in the classic handmade style in the USA. This pen is Japanese made, and it has the quality of a Pilot.

I like Rotring. I have quite a few. I bought the "Freeway" for sketching and doodling. Nice weight, well balanced, very good feel. Whether you like to write or sketch this pen will feel good in your hand. Ballpoint is quite nice as well. Lays down the ink with ease. Strongly recommend.

Pentech SpinZ Zero Pen Assortment (36716) Review

Pentech SpinZ Zero Pen Assortment (36716)

I picked up this pen designed for spinning to see what the new rage was all about. This pen looks and feels great as both a writing instrument and a beginner's penspinning pen. The extended-length caps make it easier to spin (for simple tricks like the thumb-around), which is a nice addition. The pen itself writes from both ends, and in two different colors (black and blue); I thought that was a nice touch. The two ends also come with comfortable rubber grips which makes it easier for use in simple tricks which require a firmer grip such as the infinity and figure-8. The diameter/thickness is also comfortable for getting used to finger-manipulation tricks like the finger pass.
Overall, I am pretty darn happy with this pen and don't leave home without it.

Parker Jotter Pen/Pencil Set 4 pk Black Ink Ball Pen & Lead Pencil Gift Sets Review

Parker Jotter Pen/Pencil Set 4 pk Black Ink Ball Pen and Lead Pencil Gift Sets

Classic stainless steel Parker Jotter. They used to feel a little heavier (particularly the pencil), but still better quality for the price than most set out there. I would get the gel refills for the pen though. They write very cleanly and smoothly. Superior product at a very good price.

Parker Jotter Stainless Steel Gold Trim Ballpoint Pen Review

I lost my original Parker slim stainless jotter pen going through airport security (someone removed it from my bin) so I ordered this one online. I used to be able to buy this pen in Publix in FL but now I can't find it in any store. This 'slim' pen is much thicker than my original one which I purchased in 2000.

Lamy 656 Titanium Twin Pen Black Review

Lamy 656 Titanium Twin Pen Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is by far the best multi-function pen I have ever owned. I have previously owned a Rotring 600 multipen (no longer produced) and the Levenger knock-off of the Rotring. While the Rotring had decent build quality and definitely felt solid, I eventually had some problems with retracting the pen/pencil. The Rotring and Levenger use the push-button at the top of the pen to extend the writing tip and a twist-ring to retract the tip. Over time, the Rotring's retract function became less smooth and required some fiddling. The Levenger pen, while very similar in appearance to the Rotring, was nowhere near as good in quality and had extend and retract issues only a few months into use. I also had problems with the pencil lead feed. In contrast, the Lamy Twin Pen is a joy to use. I've used mine daily for over nine months and have had no problems. The pen has decent weight, and the matte black finish makes the pen easy to hold when writing. The Lamy barrel twists to extend and retract the pen/pencil, and its operation is smooth and problem-free. Pencil lead feed is flawless. I also like the cap which covers the eraser. Instead of the small diameter cap on the Rotring/Levenger, the Lamy cap is almost the diameter of the pen barrel. Pressing the cap to feed the pencil lead feels much better, and the cap is easier to remove and replace when using the eraser. The $53 price on Amazon is a great bargain for this pen; I spent $65 last year. I highly recommend this pen to anyone who appreciates quality writing instruments.

Good size and grip makes it a pleasure to write with, solidly built, and very handsome. Not quite so bold as the old Rotring 600's (-but- What is?), but a great pencil.
