Pilot Varsity Assorted Multicolor 7 Pack Fountain Pen - P90029 Review

Pilot Varsity Assorted Multicolor 7 Pack Fountain Pen - P90029
Average Reviews:

I am a new user to fountain pens, so this is no expert review at all. Basically, what feedback I can offer is that I like the feel of the pen; the way it travels across the paper as I write. The ink seems to flow out at a consistent rate. As I poke around looking at other fountain pens, these are on the VERY inexpensive side and I am happy with their performance.

Lamy Safari Fountain Pen White Broad Nib Review

Lamy Safari Fountain Pen White Broad Nib
Average Reviews:

I could not believe that Lamy still makes the same pen that I learned to write with. It still feels the same, the only difference is that the new one doesn't have the chewed off back end and it's white, not the horrifying orange shade that traumatized me as a gradeschooler ;D
It's a great pen for the money, definitely recommend it.

Lamy Safari Al-Star Fountain Pen - Silver, Fine Nib, Model 025 Review

Lamy Safari Al-Star Fountain Pen - Silver, Fine Nib, Model 025
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just in case you're confused: The Lamy Al-Star is the same pen as the Safari Vista and Safari- the only difference between the models is the material out of which the body is made- the Al-Star is aluminum, the Vista clear ABS Plastic, and the Safari various colors of ABS Plastic. The reviews you read for the Safari apply to the Al-Star, if you're looking for a bit more info.
I personally own an Al-Star, opting for it over the Safari because I wanted a fountain pen that was as rugged as possible. And I made the right choice- it's a wonderful pen. In the end, I'm not sure what else to say! I have an extra-fine point, and it is incredibly sharp. No need to write slowly.
I definitely recommend getting the converter- eventually you'll find that cartridges are a waste of money, and that the best inks around seem to be bottle-only. Don't worry- filling from a bottle isn't a messy ordeal in the least.
Bottom line: great pen! Great for a beginner, or for an existing FP user who wants something more practical than show-off.

Lamy Safari Pink - Limited Edition Medium Point Fountain Pen - L013PKM Review

Lamy Safari Pink - Limited Edition Medium Point Fountain Pen - L013PKM
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
this is a lovely pink shade and the service from the seller was very good - no complaints. my comment is with the design of the pen's grip. By all accounts it works well for a lot of people. But, if you are like me, left handed, and an "over writer" who holds her nib parallel to the line she's writing on, you won't like the grip on the pen. It's triangulated to "guide" your fingers to hold the nib to where most folks will find it works well. But that same "guide" does not work well for those who write the way I do - a simple circular grip is my preference.
I'd also comment, as you may hear from many folks, that Lamy nibs tend to write on the "fat" side of whatever they're designated - this medium is a very fat line, and I also have a Studio (love that pen) with an F nib that looks pretty close to a true medium.
so: pretty pen, and totally grand if the grip works for you. No problems with nib smoothness or ink flow. If not, it is at best a signature pen, unfortunately.

Lamy Joy AL Fountain Pen - Black/Silver, 1.5mm Nib L11-1.5 Review

Lamy Joy AL Fountain Pen - Black/Silver, 1.5mm Nib L11-1.5
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using a Safari for a few years and love it; I thought a broader tip might be a fun change of pace so I ordered this pen.
While I was disappointed with the cap (it doesn't stay on the end of the pen when in use) it's a lovely looking pen and the length of it makes it feel like an elegant writing piece.
I have the 1.1 nib, and find it has enough flare to be a bit fancier looking for letters and correspondence, but not so much it's not appropriate for use in the office.
I first tried to use a cartridge with it, but didn't like it. I found that the converter is a much smoother and consistent writing experience, no wonder it's included with the pen. If it matters I use the Lamy brand bottled ink. I'm very happy with the way it writes and wonder at this point if I'll go back to the regular Safari!

X750 Kompass Fountain Pen Review

X750 Kompass Fountain Pen
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this pen because I wanted a fountain pen for daily use which was not a disposable and had some weight to it. So after some searching I decided on the X750 Kompass Fountain Pen. The price was right, it had the right weight and girth I was looking for and I liked the way it looked! I received my brand new pen in the mail shortly after ordering it! I also received a bottle of blue ink which was an added bonus! The pen came in a padded envelope with the ink along with an ink converter (screw type)and instructions. The pen is compatible with either cartridges or an ink converter, so I decided to use some ink cartridges I had on hand instead of the converter. Once the cartridge was installed and the pen was "inked" I wrote the word "Egypt" several times which is a standard way to test a fountain pen, because when you write "Egypt", it supposedly tests the writing of the pen from all angles? The pen laid down a real nice wet line, commensurate with the medium nib which came with the pen. Then I wrote "Egypt" fast a bunch of times and the pen continued to write very well! I have been using this pen on a daily basis for a a few weeks now and it writes like a champion! If I lost this pen now, I would be quite unhappy since it writes so well! It actually writes better than one of my more "expensive" brand name fountain pens which is ironic considering the brand name pen cost me a "mint"! I highly recommend this pen, though because of the price, I would hope the Quality Control system in place where this pen is manufactured is up to par? Too often with fountain pens which are "inexpensive" you get both good and bad because of inconsistent Quality Control systems?

Lamy CP1 Black Medium Point Fountain Pen - L056-M Review

Lamy CP1 Black Medium Point Fountain Pen - L056-M
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Lamy products are a great place to start if you are looking for a durable pen for a mid-range cost. I have used the Lamy Safari and Vista fountain pens and was looking for an upgrade to what I consider a mid-range (price) fountain pen. The Vista and Safari pens will run you around $30 so the CP1 falls between those and the upper tier pens that cost around $100. If you are new to fountain pens, consider the Safari and Vista to get used to the writing style and you can save your self some money before you commit to a better pen.
PROS:
- Significantly thinner then the Safari/Vista fountain pens
- Metal body of the pen puts some weight and durability that the Safari/Vista pens lack
- Came with a the conversion kit to use bottled ink (I don't know if this is seller specific)
- Excellent flow of ink from nib
- Durable metal cap clip
CONS:
- Cap has a bit of give when attached to bottom of the pen
- Metal clip has a bit of give side to side( kind of like a loose tooth)
- nib housing is plastic
Over all this is a great writing instrument. If you are looking to move past Lamy's Vista/Safari class, this is a great start. With the average price and the lifetime warranty offered by Lamy Im sure that this will be a great investment.

Lamy Safari Red Broad Point Fountain Pen - L16B Review

Lamy Safari Red Broad Point Fountain Pen - L16B

Lamy produces a fountain pen superior to even much more expensive fountain pens - I have shelved my Montblanc in favor of carrying my Lamy for daily use. The nib slides across paper of any tooth, rather than dragging or tearing at the fibers. Lamy is a German manufacturer who makes writing instruments geared to all levels of scribes, including schoolchildren. Pairs wonderfully with Moleskine sketch- and notebooks.

Lamy Safari Converter Z24 Review

Lamy Safari Converter Z24
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this with my Lamy Safari fountain pen, and I am glad I did. Using the converter allows me to use my choice of inks with my new pen. Operation is simple, twisting the top of the converter draws in ink through the nib. The converter also snaps securely into the pen, so there is no risk of it coming out.
This product does exactly what it should. No extra bells or whistles, and no buying extra ink cartridges.

I bought three of these pens. Yellow, Black and Red. They are plastic but write very well. The only problem I have is that the back screws on and loosens. My pen keep opening up and falling apart. I now have a pen that I can no longer use because I have lost the back in of it. Even though its a $30 fountain pen the quality could be better.

Lamy Studio Palladium Medium Point Fountain Pen - L68-M Review

Lamy Studio Palladium Medium Point Fountain Pen - L68-M
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For some reason, I have a pen fetish. Especially nice looking silver pens that are quite large and heavy. I've been looking for one that wouldn't break my bank and found this on Amazon.
I decided to treat myself for a change, and I am very glad I did. This pen suits my every desire in a pen. Silver, nicely balanced, excellent writing, and beautiful to look at. I've never had a fountain pen before, I've always been a rollerball user, never ever a ball point pen user.
Something tells me that I won't ever use another rollerball pen unless it's made by Lamy. This pen is so very very nice!

Compared to my other Montblanc and Waterman fountain pens, the Lamy Studio feels well-balanced with good ink distribution and overall writes just as smoothly. I was honestly surprised at the quality of the pen given its affordability. I should have known better since I also enjoy using my Lamy Swift rollerball. This pen is highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.

Lamy Dialog 2 Knud Holscher Rollerball Pen - Stainless Steel L374 Review

Lamy Dialog 2 Knud Holscher Rollerball Pen - Stainless Steel L374
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Lamy specializes in highly functional, esthetically-splendid pens and pencils and the Dialog 2, which was designed by Knud Holscher, exemplifies the Lamy style. At 5 and 3/4 inches, it's noticeably longer than a lot of other pens, and much heavier, with a heft that's beautifully balanced so the pen glides across the page without fatiguing my hand. The pen is beautiful to look at, with a Lamy-esque futuristic but timeless look. The big selling point, though, seems to be the gimmicky retractable pocket clip.
Unlike most rollerballs the Dialog is capless. You extend or retract the point by turning the barrel. And when you extend the point, the clip retracts so it lies flush against the pen, presumably, according to the Lamy website, for your comfort.
In fact, there's virtually no way on a pen of this length that your hand would come into contact with the clip while writing, so comfort is not an issue, whether the clip is retracted or protruding. Also, the clip is not really strong enough to keep the pen in your pocket if you bend over to pick up change or tie your shoe.
The real deal with the clip is that it's just really cool to watch it retract and extend. Otherwise, it's pretty useless, though of course it will keep the pen locatable in your breast pocket.
The Dialog takes Lamy's capless rollerball refills, which come in a variety of colors, and they're good, though their ink flow tends to be copious when freshly installed. The good news is that they don't just stop writing to let you know you're out of ink. They gradually taper off, producing ever finer, lighter lines until you figure out that it's time for a fresh cartridge.
I have the Lamy 2000 series--roller ball, pencil, ball point, fountain pen--and I love it. It has supplanted my other, fancier, pricier pens. The Dialog 2 is a great addition. It has the advantage of the great heft and balance, the cool-looking brushed stainless finish, and of course the clip which can provide hours of amusement to take the edge off of long flights, train rides, etc. I highly recommend it. At approx [...] it's far cheaper than the gilded, gaudy Mont Blancs and Duponts, and much much cooler.
