This ink is just what I needed to do calligraphy and also to do illustration. Quick dry and no need to go over with a second hand, it is dark enough.

Lamy Studio Palladium Medium Point Fountain Pen - L68-M Review

Lamy Studio Palladium Medium Point Fountain Pen - L68-M
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For some reason, I have a pen fetish. Especially nice looking silver pens that are quite large and heavy. I've been looking for one that wouldn't break my bank and found this on Amazon.
I decided to treat myself for a change, and I am very glad I did. This pen suits my every desire in a pen. Silver, nicely balanced, excellent writing, and beautiful to look at. I've never had a fountain pen before, I've always been a rollerball user, never ever a ball point pen user.
Something tells me that I won't ever use another rollerball pen unless it's made by Lamy. This pen is so very very nice!

Genuine Montblanc Bottled Ink Refill - Royal Blue 39100BE Authorized Mont Blanc Pen Dealer Review

Genuine Montblanc Bottled Ink Refill - Royal Blue 39100BE Authorized Mont Blanc Pen Dealer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
four times I've tried to counter this -- there are 'comptuer colors' - that is, a color looks the same on every monitor using any browser -- but even that's not right - I'm interested in the CONTAINER -- Does it work, like the hidden pocket inside a bottle of Parker Ink - where you can put the nib of your pen so you can fill it without immersing the entire pen in the ink. So first one must ask are ALL inks the exactly same color (as it appears on Amazon as of now. What I wonder is DOES THE INK CONTAINER WORK? Mont Blanc makes some of the finest pens in the world. We might assume that they also make ink that works in one of the finest pens in the world, so that means it works in good pens, in poor pens things may be different-- but to give ONE START FOR the shown color is silly. Now finding a 'royal blue' is not diffiuclt - in drys - changes color. Parker, Waterman, Pelican, Sheaffer, Rotering, Mont Blanc, Levenger, and a hundred other companies make their own 'royal blue' -- each is it's own SPECIFIC color. Both in the bottle AND on the page, AND after it drys -- not to mention two weeks AFTER it drys. So, why does this get a 5-star rating? Because 1) I can shake the ink to re-suspend the color in the liquid, 2) the small end allows 99% of nibs to fit without over-flowing either the ink reservoir, or getting too much ink on the pen itself, 3) the ink drys reasonably fast, needing little more that a wave or two even if using a VERY large nib as one might find on the Shaffer Centennial (i.e. the 1940's over-sized pen like MacArthur used to sign the Japanese Peace Treaty). The shape is well designed, though not as simple as the small container inside the Parker Bottle - you can see far easier than the parker allows how much ink is left, and when you need to order some more. And, of course you DO pay a bit more for the ink because of the bottle, but the ink is fine - and the bottle works fine. It is far cheaper than purchasing a separate crystal ink well for your desk, and works just as well.

Noodler's Ink Refills Polar Blue Bottled Ink - ND-19208 Review

Noodler's Ink Refills Polar Blue Bottled Ink - ND-19208
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this ink to use in a Sheaffer pen a friend gave me, it has a medium nib that is plated.
This is my first fountain pen and I was excited to use it, but it had no ink left. I went to a few office supply stores and found absolutely no bottled ink, and very few cartridges. I picked up some Pilot Varsity pens(disposable Fountain Pens) to play with while I waited for ink.
I looked around and found Noodler's Ink. It looked to be a brand of high quality and pride in their product, as well as boasting quite a few features.
From their website:
"Bulletproof" refers to any Noodler's Ink that resists all the known tools of a forger, UV light, UV light wands, bleaches, alcohols, solvents, petrochemicals, oven cleaners, carpet cleaners, carpet stain lifters, and of course...they are also waterproof once permitted to dry upon cellulose paper.
As well as being just about unfreezable. The product comes in a beautiful glass bottle that is heavy and thick. Upon opening the box I was surprised to see a free fountain pen! I thought maybe it was a tester pen or something that would not hold much ink. I was wrong, the entire barrel is fill-able by dropper and it looks pretty cool with the blue ink in it. Also included is a small paper explaining how to fill the pen and another paper explaining the advantages of bottled ink(they came up with $1.66 per pen and 76 of those pens making up a 4.5oz bottle equaling $126.16 versus a $15 bottle of ink)
I filled my Sheaffer and went at it.
Writing on cheap-o notebook paper first I noticed some feathering and the color was unexpected. The color is not bright, it is more of a slate blue, however I think it looks amazing. I then wrote on printer paper and there was much less feathering, it really only happened when I wrote slow. On 20lb copy paper there was very little to no feathering and the color looks a little deeper and dries a little darker.
Then I used the included pen, even on the cheap paper there was no feathering and the writing stayed tight. And to think, I wasn't going to waste the ink filling the thing up!
I see absolutely no break in flow, there is a huge writing difference over the Pilot Varsity. It is smooth, clear, and consistent. On notebook paper I could probably not use the other side of the paper after writing with this ink, it showed through just a little too much.Pros:
Unfreezable(well almost)
Forgery-proof
Long lasting(through water, time, uv, ect)
Free (awesome)pen
Smooth and consistent flow
Dries quickly
Cost effective vs cartridges or disposable pens
Cons:
May feather depending on nib and paper combo
Shows through to other side of most paper
Things to Keep in Mind:
The bottle has a dropper on the lid, be prepared to have a place to put it when you fill up pens that don't need it
This is not a traditional blue, it dries lighter and is more of a "Slate Blue"I am very impressed, I will definitely buy from noodlers again(and again and again and again...)
The features are amazing, it slows smooth, and there is a huge selection of colors.

Noodler's Bad BLUE Heron Fountain Pen Ink -- BULLETPROOF Review

Noodler's Bad BLUE Heron Fountain Pen Ink -- BULLETPROOF
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for a permanent blue ink to use as a counterpoint to the Noodlers Waterproof Bulletproof Black I use for journal entries. I bought Noodler's Bad BLUE Heron Fountain Pen Ink -- BULLETPROOF from Amazon a few weeks ago and tried it in two LAMY Vista fountain pens, one with a fine nib another with an extra fine nib. This ink did not work well with the extra fine nib and the ink flow was uneven. The fine nib however, worked beautifully and the pen laid down a silky smooth line at every instance.
The ink flow in the fine nib was perfectly even and controlled and the ink dried quickly on all paper surfaces. It should be noted that the drying time is extremely prolonged when writing on slick surfaces and plasticized tapes.
The Bad Blue Heron ink exhibits significantly more feathering than Noodler's Black Waterproof Fountain Pen Ink - Bulletproof when writing on inexpensive papers. On standard loose leaf paper, the fine nib LAMY produces a stroke that is about the size of a medium or broad nib. Feathering is even more pronounced when writing on recycled paper. That said, this ink is very well behaved on check paper, polished cardstock, and good quality Rhodia paper. On these papers, the fine nibbed LAMY produces crisp lines with minimal feathering.
This ink is permanent when it comes into contact with the cellulose in paper. However, areas where one penstroke overlays another will release a little pigment when the paper gets wet. Presumably, this is because the top ink layer is not chemically bonded to the paper. Some illustrators and artists love this effect while others find it to be an aggravation. This is not a problem in everyday use and it does not affect the permanence or legibility of the written word. Long story short - this ink sticks like the dickens and it can be used for check writing and signing legal documents.
The Bad Blue Heron ink is slightly translucent and you can readily see areas where the ink is laid down thickly (e.g., at the end of a downstroke) and thinly (the sweeping upper loop on a lower case 'h'). Some people love that effect, others hate it.
Finally, the Bad Blue Heron ink will demonstrate a little nib creep when used with polished metal nibs. Ink that is drawn out of the slit and onto the top of the nib (nib creep) does not affect the ink flow, the permanence of the ink, or the writing qualities of the pen.
All-in-all, Noodler's Bad Blue Heron is a well-behaved permanent blue ink that works well in my fine nibbed LAMY Vista fountain pen. Other users may have differing opinions depending upon their use (writing vs. drawing), pen type, and paper.

Noodlers Ink Fountain Pen, Piston Fill, Burgundy Review

Noodlers Ink Fountain Pen, Piston Fill, Burgundy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a budget pen for someone who appreciates the fundamentals of fountain pens. This is a straight-talking, no nonsense, blue-collared, "I put ink on a page" fountain pen.
If you need a 14 or 18k gold nib shining back at you, this ain't your pen.
If you want people to gasp in awe when you whip out your pen, this is not your pen. Well, a certain kind of fountain pen enthusiastic might and they'd worth talking to, but this ain't the rolex of pens here is what I'm saying.
If you want a modern pen to use an old nib you savaged from a busted pen at a flea market, this is your pen. Search Noodlers on YouTube for the video on this.
If inks are your thing and you want a pen, a piston pen, that you can flush and fill in search of the next perfect ink, this is your pen.
If you want to carry an extra pen for say, red ink, this is a way to do so without busting your bank account.
The pen is very light with a plastic feel to it, the nib is a decent medium, and the price is great. I used a couple of different inks in mine and I see what I expect from them in this pen.
The burgundy color is good and conservative, though they come in brighter colors too. The ink windows are visible with the cap on, which is nice. The cap screws off which I think is fine for a fountain pen that rides in a pocket or purse.
The mechanism is simple and functions well. See the Youtube video on repairing this pen to see what it is about.
To fill, basically, take the cap off and unscrew the back of the pen until it resists, this moves its piston all the way forward inside the ink chamber. Dunk the front of the pen into a bottle of ink past the nib and screw it back down while holding the front in the ink to fill it. Blot the nib with a paper towel and you're ready. It's that easy.
I applaud Noodlers for putting out this good, basic pen.

Lamy 2000 Fountain Pen - Black, Extra-Fine Nib L01XF Review

Lamy 2000 Fountain Pen - Black, Extra-Fine Nib L01XF
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Lamy 2000 fountain pen is perfect for people who want a good, solid workhorse fountain pen. The differential piston mechanism can easily gulp down a large supply of ink. The breather hole is positioned as close to the nib as possible, so you only have to dip the very tip of the pen to fill it up. Since the body is mostly made of Makrolon with stainless steel accents it is very light, yet feels warm and substantial in your hand.
This classic of 1960s design is equally at home sitting next to Apple's latest aluminum keyboard or your favorite Eames chair.
Note that Lamy 2000 nibs run seem to run a size larger than marked. My XF nib writes like a German F nib, or a Japanese M nib.

Sheaffer Skrip Bottled Ink, Blue, 2 Per Pack (SR/94221) Review

Sheaffer Skrip Bottled Ink, Blue, 2 Per Pack (SR/94221)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
On a certain level ink is ink - how much more can you say about it? There certainly are questions of durability, strength, permanence (also known as washability), and the tendency to bleed through a typical sheet of paper. On those counts Sheaffer Skrip is outstanding, especially in terms of durability and strength. What I particularly like about Sheaffer's Skrip over Parker's Quink is that Skrip is less likely to bleed through a sheet of paper to show on the other side. As far as washability/permanence goes, both brands can be got out by pre-treating with Simple Green or hairspray (or both). Loyalty reasons aside Skrip works fine in my Parker, Sheaffer, Eversharp, and Esterbrook fountain pens just fine and I've come to enjoy it over Quink. More importantly Skrip is available in a far wider variety of colors than Quink, including turquoise, purple, and brown, not to mention green, which has been discontinued by Parker.

Noodlers Fountain Pen Ink - RED-BLACK Review

Noodlers Fountain Pen Ink - RED-BLACK
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This ink doesn't look very special in my fine point pen. It looked nice--a deep, rich burgundy, but it didn't look *stunning*. However, when I put it in my medium nib Waterman...totally different. The red and black adhere differently to the paper and it looks *amazing*. My favorite of all the Noodler's colors.
The ink has both red and black inks mixed, so first of all, shake the bottle before you fill your pen. The black is more waterproof than the red, and dries at a different rate, so if you use paper that is more prone to feathering, the red with feather more, which can lead to a neat effect.
If you're looking for a 'dried blood' ink color that gives great depth of coverage and an interesting line, get this ink and use a medium nib! Fantastic!

Pelikan 4001 Ink Turquoise 62.5ml/2oz

Pelikan makes my favorite inks; both the colors and inks are my ideal. I like a lot of other inks for the color varity: Noodler's, Sheaffer Skrip, Lamy, Private Reserve, Monteverde, Preppy, yet Pelikan remains my favorite particularly in pens that struggle with other inks. The ink writes smoothly, the colors are vibrant, and the shading is noticable. If you like to see shading in your handwriting, you need to try a bottle of Pelikan! My favorites are Royal Blue and Turquoise.

I have been using Quink for Parker fountain pens (for those of you who know what they are) since 1953! It must be the same forumla. It's the same color, what they used to call "midnight blue" or "blue black." It flows and dries quickly.
I still have four Parker fountain pens, and I wouldn't use anything but Quink in them. As for those who don't think it's "permanent," try getting it out of a white shirt!

I absolutely love this ink for my Lamy Safari Fountain pen! I'm not sure what the difference is between this and the Polar Blue...but the Polar Blue is not a good ink for my Safari--too watery or something. I am constantly having to clean the ink off the nib. Not so with the La Reine Mauve! It really rocks in the Safari. Plus the color is nice and deep. I highly recommend it to purple ink lovers!
