Genuine Montblanc Bottled Ink Refill - Midnight Blue 105194 Authorized Mont Blanc Pen Dealer Review

Genuine Montblanc Bottled Ink Refill - Midnight Blue 105194 Authorized Mont Blanc Pen Dealer

1. Regarding the bottle style: The front filling compartment makes tip-filling easier. You no longer have to blindly dunk your pen down into the depths of the bottle (like, say, with Noodler's Inks) and wonder if you're only covering the tip of nib because you can't see where your pen actually is. The bottle style is also great when ink is running low, because one can move all the remaining ink to the partition in the front and sequester it, so it can be used more efficiently.
2. Regarding the ink: The ink is a perfect dark blue shade that worked wonderfully for my needs (patient chart documentation) and was remarkably smooth with my fine nib fountain pen. Also, it dried very quickly (no doubt this is also likely due to the fine lines I wrote with the fine nib--but I noticed it dried faster than some of my other inks). Faster drying means less smudging and eliminates the need for a blotter.

Overall, my new favorite ink!

Baystate Blue Review

Baystate Blue
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I enjoy writing with a fountain pen, and I was drawn to Noodler's originally because it offered waterproof inks. I wanted a distinctive color, but I prefer to use black or blue. Baystate blue is quite vibrant, seeming to jump off the page, although it is variable depending on the quality of paper you use it on.
I have used it on both Molskine notebooks for journaling, Circa notebook paper for ideas, and plain old college ruled notebooks for class notes. It preformed well on all three, although it is not good if you want to write on both sides of cheap notebook paper, as it does show through.
On a less practical note, I liked the idea of using an ink similar to older historic inks, and as an old Massachusetts man myself, I enjoyed the idea of participating in some state history.

Sheaffer Ink 2 Ounces-Skrip/Black Review

Sheaffer Ink 2 Ounces-Skrip/Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This ink is darker than Montblanc and Lamy black inks, and it is lighter than Noodler's and Cross/Pelikan black inks. It is very good at not feathering on bad paper and just OK for writing on both sides of bad paper. It is water-resistant enough for addresses on envelopes and package labels, but it is not safe for writing checks. It is safe for old pens, and it is almost pH neutral. The bottle is a good shape for no-spill opening and no-spill filling.

Not as black as Noodler's bulletproof black.
Dry much quicker (in 1-2 seconds) then Noodler's (5-6 seconds)
Totally waterproof compares to Noodler's so call waterproof.

four times I've tried to counter this -- there are 'comptuer colors' - that is, a color looks the same on every monitor using any browser -- but even that's not right - I'm interested in the CONTAINER -- Does it work, like the hidden pocket inside a bottle of Parker Ink - where you can put the nib of your pen so you can fill it without immersing the entire pen in the ink. So first one must ask are ALL inks the exactly same color (as it appears on Amazon as of now. What I wonder is DOES THE INK CONTAINER WORK? Mont Blanc makes some of the finest pens in the world. We might assume that they also make ink that works in one of the finest pens in the world, so that means it works in good pens, in poor pens things may be different-- but to give ONE START FOR the shown color is silly. Now finding a 'royal blue' is not diffiuclt - in drys - changes color. Parker, Waterman, Pelican, Sheaffer, Rotering, Mont Blanc, Levenger, and a hundred other companies make their own 'royal blue' -- each is it's own SPECIFIC color. Both in the bottle AND on the page, AND after it drys -- not to mention two weeks AFTER it drys. So, why does this get a 5-star rating? Because 1) I can shake the ink to re-suspend the color in the liquid, 2) the small end allows 99% of nibs to fit without over-flowing either the ink reservoir, or getting too much ink on the pen itself, 3) the ink drys reasonably fast, needing little more that a wave or two even if using a VERY large nib as one might find on the Shaffer Centennial (i.e. the 1940's over-sized pen like MacArthur used to sign the Japanese Peace Treaty). The shape is well designed, though not as simple as the small container inside the Parker Bottle - you can see far easier than the parker allows how much ink is left, and when you need to order some more. And, of course you DO pay a bit more for the ink because of the bottle, but the ink is fine - and the bottle works fine. It is far cheaper than purchasing a separate crystal ink well for your desk, and works just as well.

Noodler's Ink Refills Polar Blue Bottled Ink - ND-19208 Review

Noodler's Ink Refills Polar Blue Bottled Ink - ND-19208
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this ink to use in a Sheaffer pen a friend gave me, it has a medium nib that is plated.
This is my first fountain pen and I was excited to use it, but it had no ink left. I went to a few office supply stores and found absolutely no bottled ink, and very few cartridges. I picked up some Pilot Varsity pens(disposable Fountain Pens) to play with while I waited for ink.
I looked around and found Noodler's Ink. It looked to be a brand of high quality and pride in their product, as well as boasting quite a few features.
From their website:
"Bulletproof" refers to any Noodler's Ink that resists all the known tools of a forger, UV light, UV light wands, bleaches, alcohols, solvents, petrochemicals, oven cleaners, carpet cleaners, carpet stain lifters, and of course...they are also waterproof once permitted to dry upon cellulose paper.
As well as being just about unfreezable. The product comes in a beautiful glass bottle that is heavy and thick. Upon opening the box I was surprised to see a free fountain pen! I thought maybe it was a tester pen or something that would not hold much ink. I was wrong, the entire barrel is fill-able by dropper and it looks pretty cool with the blue ink in it. Also included is a small paper explaining how to fill the pen and another paper explaining the advantages of bottled ink(they came up with $1.66 per pen and 76 of those pens making up a 4.5oz bottle equaling $126.16 versus a $15 bottle of ink)
I filled my Sheaffer and went at it.
Writing on cheap-o notebook paper first I noticed some feathering and the color was unexpected. The color is not bright, it is more of a slate blue, however I think it looks amazing. I then wrote on printer paper and there was much less feathering, it really only happened when I wrote slow. On 20lb copy paper there was very little to no feathering and the color looks a little deeper and dries a little darker.
Then I used the included pen, even on the cheap paper there was no feathering and the writing stayed tight. And to think, I wasn't going to waste the ink filling the thing up!
I see absolutely no break in flow, there is a huge writing difference over the Pilot Varsity. It is smooth, clear, and consistent. On notebook paper I could probably not use the other side of the paper after writing with this ink, it showed through just a little too much.Pros:
Unfreezable(well almost)
Forgery-proof
Long lasting(through water, time, uv, ect)
Free (awesome)pen
Smooth and consistent flow
Dries quickly
Cost effective vs cartridges or disposable pens
Cons:
May feather depending on nib and paper combo
Shows through to other side of most paper
Things to Keep in Mind:
The bottle has a dropper on the lid, be prepared to have a place to put it when you fill up pens that don't need it
This is not a traditional blue, it dries lighter and is more of a "Slate Blue"I am very impressed, I will definitely buy from noodlers again(and again and again and again...)
The features are amazing, it slows smooth, and there is a huge selection of colors.

Namiki Fountain Pen Black Bottled Ink Review

Namiki Fountain Pen Black Bottled Ink
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This ink, unlike most fountain pen inks, is waterproof enough for writing on envelopes and shipping labels. However, it is not safe enough for writing checks. It prints through bad paper, so it is not for two-sided writing on bad paper. It is also waterproof enough for writing on pocket calendars and daily planners, as long as the paper is good enough. There are blacker black fountain pen inks, but only Noodler's black ink colors are more waterproof than this one. Lamy Blue-Black ink and the Mont Blanc blue-black ink in bottles (different formula in cartridges) are about as waterproof as Namiki/Pilot Black, but Namiki/Pilot Black that dries up in pens can be cleaned completely out of them whereas the other two are impossible to clean out after they dry up. If you have Namiki/Pilot Black in a bottle, it is also good for cleaning remnants of other colors out of pens.

Noodlers Ink Fountain Pen, Piston Fill, Burgundy Review

Noodlers Ink Fountain Pen, Piston Fill, Burgundy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a budget pen for someone who appreciates the fundamentals of fountain pens. This is a straight-talking, no nonsense, blue-collared, "I put ink on a page" fountain pen.
If you need a 14 or 18k gold nib shining back at you, this ain't your pen.
If you want people to gasp in awe when you whip out your pen, this is not your pen. Well, a certain kind of fountain pen enthusiastic might and they'd worth talking to, but this ain't the rolex of pens here is what I'm saying.
If you want a modern pen to use an old nib you savaged from a busted pen at a flea market, this is your pen. Search Noodlers on YouTube for the video on this.
If inks are your thing and you want a pen, a piston pen, that you can flush and fill in search of the next perfect ink, this is your pen.
If you want to carry an extra pen for say, red ink, this is a way to do so without busting your bank account.
The pen is very light with a plastic feel to it, the nib is a decent medium, and the price is great. I used a couple of different inks in mine and I see what I expect from them in this pen.
The burgundy color is good and conservative, though they come in brighter colors too. The ink windows are visible with the cap on, which is nice. The cap screws off which I think is fine for a fountain pen that rides in a pocket or purse.
The mechanism is simple and functions well. See the Youtube video on repairing this pen to see what it is about.
To fill, basically, take the cap off and unscrew the back of the pen until it resists, this moves its piston all the way forward inside the ink chamber. Dunk the front of the pen into a bottle of ink past the nib and screw it back down while holding the front in the ink to fill it. Blot the nib with a paper towel and you're ready. It's that easy.
I applaud Noodlers for putting out this good, basic pen.

Noodlers Fountain Pen Ink - La Coleur Royale (purple) Review

Noodlers Fountain Pen Ink - La Coleur Royale (purple)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Purchased this Noodler's to round out my ink assortment and really didn't have a "quiet' purple, one that would be useful on business letterhead as well as personal notes. This color is truly "royal" having a tinge of purple, yet being predominantly blue. And the shading is quite exquisite when used with an italic or broad/blunt nib. Highly recommended if you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary, yet still in the blue family

Noodlers Polar Black Bulletproof Eel Fountain Pen Ink Review

Noodlers Polar Black Bulletproof Eel Fountain Pen Ink
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This ink is as good as Noodler's "standard" Black, with one trade-off: instead of being perfect on bad paper, this one stays liquid far below the freezing point of water. This one is also designed to safely condition and lubricate the gaskets of permanent-piston pens.
This one is not good for two-sided writing on bad paper, but just remember that almost all fountain pen inks of any color are not good for two-sided writing on bad paper either.
This one, like Noodler's "standard" Black, is safe for writing checks and signing valuable or important documents. One behavior you might notice, if your pen's nib is an exposed metal surface (not covered with colored enamel), is that Polar Black spreads itself over exposed metal surfaces. This "nib creep" is harmless behavior because the ink doesn't run down onto the grip area. Wiping the ink off the nib is only temporary; more ink will soon spread to replace what you wiped off. Again, this is harmless behavior and a very small price to pay for the security of your marks, signatures and important handwritten texts.

Noodler's Eternal Luxury Blue Fountain Pen Ink Review

Noodler's Eternal Luxury Blue Fountain Pen Ink
Average Reviews:

I write with Noodler's Eternal Luxury Blue ink all the time for secure recordkeeping (student attendance in the classes I teach; need I say more?) in a color that says, "original and handwritten." This stuff is just as tough as Noodler's (standard) Black.
Noodler's Eternal Luxury Blue is not as good for two-sided writing on bad paper as Noodler's (standard) Black is, but for the color blue I count that as a security feature. A photocopying forger would have to spend lots of time and money to produce a convincing color photocopy of both sides of a sheet of paper with exactly the same shadow-through and print-through of handwritten marks or writing in this ink, while a handwriting forger would have to try many times to produce marks or writing with exactly the same shadow-through and print-through.
One behavior you might notice, if your pen's nib is an exposed metal surface (not covered with colored enamel), is that Eternal Luxury Blue spreads itself over exposed metal surfaces. This "nib creep" is harmless behavior because the ink doesn't run down onto the grip area. Wiping the ink off the nib is only temporary; more ink will soon spread to replace what you wiped off. Noodler's Ink Refills Shah's Rose Bottled Ink - ND-19036
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
People who know Noodler's will not be surprised by my ecstatic reaction to this colour of ink. I bought it for my wife (another fountain pen enthusiast) and she is overjoyed with it. The colour is hard to describe, it's a rather magenta sort of pink but more intense than pink and really 'pops off the page.' In other words, it's brilliant and beautiful, a very fine ink especially for women who seek femininity yet eschew the paleness and coyness of pink. We both think it's a great color. Also in line with Noodler's tradition of value, it comes in a three ounce bottle, about 1/3 more ink than one unusually gets per bottle and at a good price. In our opinion, this is a very fine ink and a good deal.

Noodler's Hunter Green Eternal Fountain Pen Ink Review

Noodler's Hunter Green Eternal Fountain Pen Ink
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like fountain pens and ever since high school green ink has been my trademark. My pen is a medium nib Pelikan 200 (green of course). One of the drawbacks of fountain pens is that the ink is not waterproof so it is not good to use for checks or any place where there is any danger of the paper getting wet. I've tried a few "semi-waterproof" inks in the past but they never worked worth a darn.
Noodler's came out with an ink that is water soluble in the pen but chemically reacts with the cellulose in paper to be permanent and waterproof. This sounded perfect so I ordered a bottle in the hunter green.
I was previously using Pelikan brilliant green ink. In general you expect the best writing when you have the same brand of ink and pen. I found Noodler's ink to write better than Pelikan. It has better and more consistent flow. It writes better on cheap paper which caused skipping problems with Pelikan ink. My pen feels a little more scratchy with Noodler's ink so I think it must be a little less viscious than Pelikan ink. Noodler's ink also feathers more on rough paper than Pelikan ink did.
To me the color of this ink isn't quite right. It is more yellowish and lighter than I expected. To my eye it looks more like a Kelly green than a hunter green. The online examples looked like a hunter green so I wonder if there is a little variation batch to bath.
