This ink is just what I needed to do calligraphy and also to do illustration. Quick dry and no need to go over with a second hand, it is dark enough.

Lamy Safari Red Broad Point Fountain Pen - L16B Review

Lamy Safari Red Broad Point Fountain Pen - L16B
Average Reviews:

Lamy produces a fountain pen superior to even much more expensive fountain pens - I have shelved my Montblanc in favor of carrying my Lamy for daily use. The nib slides across paper of any tooth, rather than dragging or tearing at the fibers. Lamy is a German manufacturer who makes writing instruments geared to all levels of scribes, including schoolchildren. Pairs wonderfully with Moleskine sketch- and notebooks.

Lamy Safari Converter Z24 Review

Lamy Safari Converter Z24
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this with my Lamy Safari fountain pen, and I am glad I did. Using the converter allows me to use my choice of inks with my new pen. Operation is simple, twisting the top of the converter draws in ink through the nib. The converter also snaps securely into the pen, so there is no risk of it coming out.
This product does exactly what it should. No extra bells or whistles, and no buying extra ink cartridges.

Sheaffer Skrip Bottled Ink - Black Review

Sheaffer Skrip Bottled Ink - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
On a certain level ink is ink - how much more can you say about it? There certainly are questions of durability, strength, permanence (also known as washability), and the tendency to bleed through a typical sheet of paper. On those counts Sheaffer Skrip is outstanding, especially in terms of durability and strength. What I particularly like about Sheaffer's Skrip over Parker's Quink is that Skrip is less likely to bleed through a sheet of paper to show on the other side. As far as washability/permanence goes, both brands can be got out by pre-treating with Simple Green or hairspray (or both). Loyalty reasons aside Skrip works fine in my Parker, Sheaffer, Eversharp, and Esterbrook fountain pens just fine and I've come to enjoy it over Quink. More importantly Skrip is available in a far wider variety of colors than Quink, including turquoise, purple, and brown, not to mention green, which has been discontinued by Parker.

Lamy Safari Charcoal Fountain Pen - Charcoal, Medium Nib L17M Review

Lamy Safari Charcoal Fountain Pen - Charcoal, Medium Nib L17M
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, let me say that I love fountain pens--all types, but especially Sheaffers. A colleague of mine turned me on to Lamy pens and they've become my workhorses.
I teach English so I grade many, many papers and I refuse to write with a boring pen. I used to use my antique shaeffers until a student almost dropped one. I had to have a daily pen that was, well, near disposable. I remembered the Lamy and ordered a Safari. Now, if something happens to it, I don't have a stroke. Plus, the broad nib has a wonderful ink flow!
I give them as gifts. They are a good pen to start using as they are very forgiving.
Do they write as well as my older pens? Nope. Are they more user-friendly? Yup. (Think mid 60's Jaguar E-Type versus 2005 Honda Civic. Which is more fun to drive? Which would you drive to the grocery store? Get my point?)
Bottom line: It is a $25 pen that you'll use more than your $100+ antique pens.

This pen works well when converted for using bottled ink. I had some skipping when used with Lami's cartridges, but it writes smoothly with a good-quality ink like Noodler's.

Noodlers Fountain Pen Ink - Summer Tanager (orange) Review

Noodlers Fountain Pen Ink - Summer Tanager (orange)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an interesting ink from Noodler's. I had read great reviews on other sites/forums about the color, and had to try it.
My first impression was that it was filled to the very, very top. I opened the bottle and there was this deep orange color that was unexpected, I thought the ink itself would be lighter in color, but no bother. Loaded it up into a newer Sheaffer Agio and got to writing.
I used it in that pen for about a week, fine nib with a converter. The ink was very thin compared to Noodler's American Eel Black. It flowed nicely, although wasn't as consistent in opacity/darkness as I was hoping. Perhaps it was the papers I use (standard office paper, notebooks, etc, nothing fancy here) but it would consistently be darker at the beginning and endings of letters and words. Not really bad, and not gloppy or bleeding, but just darker. On the second loading of ink I made sure to really shake the bottle up and make sure there wasn't any pigment settled to the bottom and I don't think it made a difference.
The color itself is cool. It's bright and jumps off the page, especially when I would take notes mixed with black or a navy blue, the two (or three) contrast beautifully.
I'm going to try this in a few of my other pens and see how it flows, if it's any better. I had an issue with it leaking out the back of the Sheaffer's converter, which I did not experience with the black. Again, I think the thinner ink exploited a problem with the converter that was already there, I just have to re-seal the threads. So really not a strike against the ink, just an observation. Will come back and update once I've had a bit more experience with this ink.
Overall, I recommend buying a bottle and trying it out. As I say the color is bright and full of energy, definitely worth having in your lineup.

Sheaffer Skrip Bottled Ink, 50 ml., Blue (SHF94221) Review

Sheaffer Skrip Bottled Ink, 50 ml., Blue (SHF94221)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This ink is good for two-sided writing on bad paper, unusual among fountain pen inks. It is "washable," so parents can give it to children without worrying, and of course it is not good for writing checks. It is erasable/eradicable with sulfate-sulfite eradicators like the Pelikan Super-Pirat, which is useful for students and for personal editing. Like most blue inks for fountain pens, this ink dries to a lighter hue and shade than most blue inks for ballpoint, rollerball and gel pens. It is a little bit darker than Pelikan/Cross Blue and Parker Quink Blue. The new bottle is a good shape for no-spill opening and no-spill filling. This ink is safe for old pens, and it is almost pH neutral.

Namiki The Falcon Flexible Nib Fountain Pen, Black Resin Barrel, Soft Medium Nib, (60252) Review

Namiki The Falcon Flexible Nib Fountain Pen, Black Resin Barrel, Soft Medium Nib, (60252)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this pen as a Christmas gift, and I am thrilled with it. I have a lot of pens, including a few Namiki vanishing fountain pens. No surprise that Namiki made a good product.
The pen is lightweight, but still has enough balance to not feel "too" light. I usually like solid pens. This is a solid pen, but light. It reminds me of ... a quill. A bird feather is strong, but hollow and light. Though I've never written with a "real" quill, perhaps this is the inspiration.
The nib (mine is fine) is fine, but not scratchy. It seems perfectly balanced with the instrument. The ink flows gracefully as a bigger nib, but with a finer line.
The cap screws off/on, which is great for a pen with such fluid ink; no accidental cap slipping off in a pocket, or coming loose. It is solid all the way around.
The style is nice, and understated. It looks like the fine pen that it is.
Strongly recommended!

Lamy Safari Yellow Ballpoint Pen - L218 Review

Lamy Safari Yellow Ballpoint Pen - L218

I loved the pen which fits my hand and writes smoothly. It is a pity that after using for about four weeks writing memos on, say, about total 20 sheets of letter paper, strokes became scratchy and vanished. It seems that ink ran out.
I would recommend securing refills before buying the pen.

Great product. Just a little bit expensive. Doesn't spill. and easy to change the cartridges. Its a shame that last for a really short period of time only but well that is justified because the amount of ink needed to do oriental calligraphy. Anyway. Sure I'll recommend that.
