Pelikan Tradition Series 215 Lozenge Fine Point Fountain Pen - 953000 Review

Pelikan Tradition Series 215 Lozenge Fine Point Fountain Pen - 953000

To me, a nice fountain pen seems just as important as a nice tie in a professional, executive environment. This was my first one. I wasn't 100% sure if I would like using fountain pens or not, so this was a good choice as it is very classy and yet still subtle. Also, it doesn't break the bank. The plunger mechanism is a no-brainer to me. I don't think I would want any other kind of fountain pen. I use it regularly throughout the day all week and it performs well. I like that the clip is very sturdy for if you wear pens in your pockets and don't like them falling out or getting unclipped and turned around awkwardly. Think of this as a gateway pen. It's a safe bet, but it will make you want more. Need to get enough pens to fill up the classy pen display cases here on amazon!

Pelikan 800 Series Fountain Pen - Black, Broad Nib 995597 Review

Pelikan 800 Series Fountain Pen - Black, Broad Nib 995597

The Pelikan M800 is the perfect fountain pen. I've owned one with the black barrel & gold furniture for nearly a year, and it is by far my favorite fountain pen. I use other fountain pens in my collection, but I always return to my M800 after a day or so away from it. Here are the reasons why I love this pen:
1. Ink capacity - This pen has a huge ink capacity. I can go for 2 or 3 weeks at a time without needing to refill the ink reservoir.
2. Filling mechanism - I really like the piston mechanism used to draw ink into the pen. The brass piston always operates smoothly, and the piston screw never comes loose after it's tightened.
3. Nib - I have to admit that this pen isn't the best-writing pen in my fountain pen collection, but it's still a smooth writer that's always a pleasure to use. I have a fine nib, but it writes a little more like a medium. I've heard that this is pretty typical of Pelikan pens. The nib itself is a beauty; it's a 2-tone 18k gold nib with a pelican engraved on it. Also, the nib can easily screw out from the barrel, making changing nibs easy as can be.
4. Reliability - This pen never skips and it starts writing every time the nib hits the paper, even after sitting idle for several days. There are never any leakage problems, either. I don't have to be afraid of a blob of ink flying out when I use this pen.
5. Craftsmanship - Everything on this pen is put together beautifully. The gold trim complements the black finish perfectly, and it's not so much gold that it looks gaudy. (This is coming from a guy who prefers white gold to yellow gold!) The M800 is also a durable pen. I've accidentally dropped it once or twice, and nothing has ever broken on it. (I wouldn't recommend regularly abusing it, though!) The resin has proven to be tough.
6. Size - This might be a drawback to some people, but I really like the large size of this pen. I don't like using writing instruments that are too thin, and there's no need to worry about that with the M800. It's a big pen...about 6.5" posted, 5" unposted, & 5.5" capped. The barrel is just about 0.5" in diameter. I find this pen extremely comfortable to use.
All of these factors are what made the Pelikan M800 become my favorite fountain pen. I recommend this fountain pen very, very highly!

Pelikan Technixx Matte Chrome Medium Point Fountain Pen - 905992 Review

Pelikan Technixx Matte Chrome Medium Point Fountain Pen - 905992

This is a quality writing instrument. The stainless steel barrel is strong enough to withstand the typical abuse of the modern office environment. The extra fine nib produces an incredibly delicate stream of ink, giving a certain gravitas to even the most innane scribblings.
Refill is by means of 2 international-size cartridges, which can be picked up at any office supply store, unlike the more difficult to find, proprietary Cross or Parker refills.
All in all a fabulous writing implement.

Pelikan Souveran 400 Black GT Fine Point Fountain Pen - 994772 Review

Pelikan Souveran 400 Black GT Fine Point Fountain Pen - 994772
Average Reviews:

In my engineering days all the draftsmen had Pelikan equipment.
Decades after unsatisfactory experiences with two Mont Blancs [scratchy nib on one, a broken piston on the other], I decided that I really wanted a fountain pen again. I remembered Pelikan, and bought one.
The gold nib is silky smooth on the paper, with the ink flowing easily and without noticeable pressure. It flows readily even when I'm doing a crossword in bed and the nib is elevated.
In addition to superior quality, the Pelikan has another advantage over Mont Blanc -- the nib screws in and is easily replaced [Pelikan has a large variety of nibs, including also italic].
I now have four Souveran 400s [which fit my rather smallish hand] and four different ink colors. People with large hands might prefer the 600.
A flawless writing instrument.

Pelikan SOUVERAN M405 BLACK/SILVER Fountain Pen-Fine Review

Pelikan SOUVERAN M405 BLACK/SILVER Fountain Pen-Fine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The 405 is not an innovative pen. The main difference between it and other Souveran pens, is that the color scheme was black/blue/silver. However to me this color scheme made the pen simply splendid in appearance. The 400 series fit my hand well, and the pen showed the usual level of excellent Pelikan fit and finish. As usual, there were zero defects. The nib is a beautiful creation of gold and rhodium, not so large as to be flashy but large enough to be noticeable. This is now my favorite pen, and I already own two other Pelikans. Major kudos to Pelikan!
