(More customer reviews)I specifically asked for this set for Christmas, and upon receiving it as a gift, I was super excited. Didn't take me long to fall out of love with the set though.
1) The seven interchangeable tips are actually 4 tips, and three of them have twins. So it's really 4 tip styles.
2) Only one tip would even fit into the feather pen until I took a pair of pliers to them to get them to fit. This shouldn't be required of a product at all.
3) The feather constantly falls out of the metal piece, they didn't attach it to the metal in any way other than just slipping it in.
4) The wooden pen is painted, and missing paint in spots, and that looks tacky. It also was messed up and I had to take a knitting needle to the inside of it to get the part that holds the nibs to straighten out.
5) The wooden pen is not very good at holding the tips in straight and steady, they like to wobble once you've used them for about 5 minutes, and at that point you have ink in it and it's difficult to straighten it back up without getting everything all messy.
6) The ink it comes with is really thin, and fades out a lot when using it. Not a big problem, but I much prefer my Speedball ink to this ink.
7) Also my feather was too long to fit into the box, so it messed up the end of the feather, which is now sorta crinkled, and the feather has a split in it as well that I can't seem to fix. It looks more like a tear than an imperfect, like in the product picture.
I got mine from Think Geek, sadly I thought they had better quality control than this. :(

Rhodia Webnotebook Orange 5 1/2 X 8 1/4 Review

I have kept journals for years in Moleskines and wanted to see what all the fuss about Rhodia journals was about. I was highly pleased with my decision to try one of these larger-sized orange Rhodia's.
First of all, you should know that the cover is a solid color. The black stripe in the picture is the packaging. The cover seems like it is thicker and more like leather than a Moleskine (it may even be leather, and the Moleskine might be too, but it just seems finer). It is a tiny bit wider than the Moleskine, but only about half an inch, and it is exactly as tall.
The Rhodia has a different kind of paper than the Moleskine. It very smooth, heavy, and a darker ivory than the Moleskine. It would react totally differently to ink than cheaper papers. The paper does not have any bleed-through or show-through, even with fountain pens. I really love that about the Rhodia. The ruling looks a bit larger than college-ruled (it is bigger than the Moleskine--fewer lines on a page) and on the right side on the bottom there is the Rhodia logo on every page. I'm not too crazy about that. In addition, the Rhodia logo is imprinted in the cover. That logo is everywhere!
The Rhodia also has an envelope in the back just like the Moleskine. It has an orange ribbon that I don't like quite as well as the one on the Moleskine. It also doesn't open up to be as flat as the Moleskine when fully open, but this is because the paper is just so thick, so it's a little stiffer. Still, I need to say that it DOES lay flat; it's just that the Moleskine does it easily and has more "range of motion", if that makes sense.
The Rhodia is much more expensive than the Moleskine.
I think that I will use this Rhodia for fountain pen inks and for special journaling projects. As nice as it is (and it is nice), I just prefer my Moleskine--the thinner paper, the thinner lines, the easy opening to being flat. So I won't switch, but I'll still enjoy using this luxury journal and all of its fine features.
Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)I have used moleskine notebooks for years and really like the size and binding of the large journal. But I also write mostly with fountain pens which often bleed through the paper of a moleskine. A graphic design friend recommended Rhodia paper and I bought this notebook, which is the same size as a large moleskine, to see if the paper would tolerate fountain pen ink better. This paper loves ink and my fountain pens all glide across the smooth paper without bleeding through the page - even broad nib pens with deep black ink. I prefer the molekin cover; the black material on this one shows fingerprints easily, but the paper is so much better that I will not switch back.

Small Chestnut Pocket Journal with Handmade Paper Review

Moleskine Ruled Notebook Large Review

I've been journaling ever since I was a pimply-faced teenager, and now I'm 31. In that time, I've used all varieties of notebooks, and filled them all. I came across the Moleskine brand a few years ago, and now I won't use anything else. The large ruled notebook is sturdy, of excellent construction, holds I think 265 pages, and the pages will not fall out. This notebook is best for writers and diarists.
I wouldn't use this book for school because, first of all, it is expensive. Second of all, it's a bit of overkill. I doubt you'll take a class in which you'll have time to fill up this notebook. You'll be more organized in a class if you buy a simple lab book or composition book to take notes in for each class.
I know a lot of people who try to write in jounals. They buy them with the best intentions, write a couple of pages, and then seem to forget about them and eventually buy ANOTHER journal, in which they will write a few pages and forget about. The key is just to keep the SAME journal, to keep in it in the same safe place, and to write in it whenever you feel like it, even if months go by without you touching it. If someone buys you another journal, fill up the first one first, and then move on to the new one. You can learn from my experience and start with the best, which is Moleskine. Otherwise . . . do whatever you want. The main thing is just to have something to write in.
I've also used all variety of pens. My choice is the Pilot Precise V5. Every now and then you'll get a bum one, that you've just got to throw away because it's not writing smoothly or properly. But, for the most part, these are the best choice for journaling and writing. They are fine point. They last longer than gel ink. They require no pressure whatsoever to be placed on the tip, as ball-point pens do, and they don't smear.

Blueline Business Notebook, Black, 192 Pages, 9-1/4 Inches x 7-1/4 Inches Review

I bought a few to write memory books for each of my three boys, and therefore was hoping that it would be presentable on the outside as well as the inside. The outside is perfect, but the inside cover is a blueline advertisement, and quite unattractive. I will try and submit my own customer image so you can see it yourself and decide whether you would like to look at it every time you open the book or not. The other things I dislike about the notebook are the words "Date" on every upper right corner and "Page" on every lower right corner. I would prefer something cleaner, and therefore, I will be returning the product.

It is fountain pen friendly (Relatively. sometimes ink takes a bit to dry, but this is negligible), has information pages that include maps, time zones, and an ownership page, and has a nice ribbon.
Unfortunately, my ribbon fell off when I ripped it off (which is to be expected when ripping things...) but this notebook is an absolute joy to use.

(More customer reviews)I have been on an obsession to locate the best possible narrow-ruled notebook. After many failures, I think I have found my One True Love.
The version I got (I have seen some suggestion that the products are not consistent) has hard, liquid-repelling covers, slightly rounded edges and numbered pages. It opens nearly flat and, as the covers are hard, is easy to write on.
For my criteria--narrow ruled, sensibly designed, hard-covered--this product really meets the requirements.
