(More customer reviews)What's the deal with the $299 pricing? I bought mine for one-tenth of that price. Something must be screwy. Pen has a nice nib, but its not gold, so this pricing is way un-justifiable. But if we ignore the pricing for a moment, and focus on the pen, it is a joy to use. I really like the "camelback" design that keeps the pen angled just right for writing (difficult to see in the picture on this page), and resting comfortably in your hand. It is a substantially-sized pen, so I suspect many people (women in particular tend to favor more slender fountain pens) might regard it as visually un-gainly. But it is certainly an eye-catching pen. People ask me what else does it do, and I just have to tell them that it just writes. It has a nice solid feel, but it nevertheless light (aluminum body). If I am writing anything more extensive than, say, a check, then I don't leave the cap clipped on the end - it kinda upsets the balance. I prefer the fine point nib. I have another with the medium nib, and I feel the medium nib flows more ink than I usually like. The fine point nib gives me nice metering of the ink, and on average gives me more of a line that is akin to a ball-point pen's medium tip. You can use either ink cartridges or drawn-in ink from an inkwell. These come in a variety of color combinations, which I've got three variations of. There is just something painter-ly about using a nice fountain pen, as the act of writing now becomes more than just a mundane task, but something to enjoy. I'm late to the joys of fountain pens, as certainly they are not as efficient nor ease-of-maintenance like a rollerball or ball-point. I'd recommend you get one and enjoy it, but NOT at this price - that is why I couldn't give this five stars.
