Visconti Wall Street Green Celluloid Ballpoint Pen Review

I was given this pen as a Christmas present by a satisfied client. I do alot of 'official' writing. From the first word I knew this was some special writing device. Smooth and silky. Great ergonomic balance.
Then I looked it up on Google and Amazon. Visconti puts alot of engineering into their product. It shows. Wonderful craftemanship.
I dont live in a fancy house or drive a fancy pancy car. But this pen gives me the taste of Mr. Wallstreet boy. Wroomm wroommm.

Pelikan Souveran 600 Black/Red GT Medium Point Fountain Pen - 928697 Review

Pelikan Souveran 600 Black/Red GT Medium Point Fountain Pen - 928697

Yes, there are other beautiful fountain pens out there that work beautifully, but nothing I've ever owned, including Montegrappa, Visconti, Aurora, Sailor, Waterman, Delta, Omas, or high end Parker and Sheaffer pens actually write better than either of my Pelikan 600's. Most don't write quite as consistently well. The Pelikan's an old style converter-only pen, but probably because of that, there are never any issues with getting it to write. If I use it at least once a week it writes immediately. I like fountain pens in general, but if I'm taking one with me to sign documents, write a letter, or make notes, it's going to be one of two models of pen-the Pelikan 600 or the Waterman Carene (another utilitarian winner, for sure!). Oh-from my experience, don't bother with Mont Blanc. Overpriced, unreliable, leaky, fussy and inconsistent. Otherwise quite lovely. Bleccchhh!!

Visconti Homo Sapiens Volcanic Lava Black with Bronze Trim Fine Point Fountain Pen - V-46602-F Review

I'd been lusting after a Homo Sapiens for more than six months. Once I got it, I was very pleased with the smoothness of the Dreamtouch nib. Moreover, the nib is quite wet without being so juicy as to cause drying problems. The barrel material lives up to the advertising in that you can write a lot without the section getting slippery, no matter if it's humid out or not. The bronze furniture is lovely and develops a patina that can be buffed out with the included buffing cloth, but so far, I prefer the patina! The barrel diameter is fairly large, easily as large as a Pelikan M1000 series. I don't post my pens, so I can't give you an idea of the balance while posted. The pen is sufficiently heavy that you don't need to apply any pressure when writing. This is another advertised feature and it really seems to work...between the pen weight and the Dreamtouch nib, you can write all day with little or no hand fatigue.
The packaging is nice, though I'm a bit disappointed that the presentation case is basically the same case that comes with the low-end Visconti pens, such as the Rembrandt or the van Gogh. I realize this is not an HRH or an SE, but a pen at this price should have a better case. The other thing I noticed is that the mini-CD didn't seem to work well with Win7. Fortunately, the Visconti videos are readily available on YouTube.
From my judgement:
Aesthetics: 9 of 10
Quality/Construction: 10 of 10
Weight and Dimension: 9 of 10
Nib Performance: 10 of 10 (I truly can't imagine a better fine nib, anywhere)
Filling System: 8 of 10 (you have to KNOW how to use the Power filler system)
Cost/Value: 10 of 10 (best nib...great design and quality...expensive, but you can find them for $150 less than MSRP)
I'd recommend this pen to any fountain pen aficionado who wants a high-quality daily user!
