Looks:
It is very beautiful with the body having a brilliant and deep tigers-eye finish; with movement, it ranges in hue from a deep dark garnet color, to brilliant ruby red. The illustrations are in a fine black, showing the Tidal Basin at the bottom, along with the Lincoln Memorial, and thin, shadowy branches crawling across the body of the pen. The flowers are perfect white with medium-pink stigma giving a soft effect. A single, textured band of bright gold adorns the top of the cap; it is a subtle and beautiful highlight, bringing together both the brilliant color of the pen, and the rich pink-gold accents. The nib is silver-colored iridium by Schmidt, and is elegant in and of itself. A gold nib may have "matched" but the silver color really does draw one's attention.
Function:
The cap screws off easily and shortly, with one rotation of the wrist. Writing is smooth once you get it going; but at first it might take a little patience. The hold is nice, very ergonomic.
Extras:
It came in a lovely matching canister, within which, the pen was encased in a velvet pocket. It included instructions for using and maintaining the pen.
