As a chemist, I often have acetone or other organic solvents on my hands that would melt or disfigure a plastic or polymer pen. Besides an outstanding appearance, the nice thing about gold is that no chemical that you will ever get on your hands will ever tarnish or damage the pen's finish. My last gold plated Parker fountain pen lasted me 32 years. I expect no less from this one. Oh, I thought about the gold Monte Blanc pens, but at over $1,000, they were way too expensive. This pen comes with the preferred screw piston filling system for refilling from an ink bottle or it will take the disposable Parker ink cartridges.
