(More customer reviews)Bought the Fine nib version of this pen from the Marketfair Stationery seller on Amazon. Shipping was prompt, packaging was fine, pen arrived in generally good shape, although the black ink refill cartridge packaged inside the pen body had burst (maybe due to severe winter weather during shipping freezing the ink), making a bit of a mess. Easy enough to clean up, but I would recommend removing the section for the first time over a paper plate.
Installed the cartridge (only about 1/3 full due to leakage after bursting), and the pen was writing almost immediately. Writes nicely, puts out a surprisingly large amount of ink for a fine nib. I'd compare it to a medium nib from some other manufacturers. It got ink all over my left-handed wife's hand when she wrote with it. Very attractive pen, well designed.
Here's what drew me to the pen: Metal cap and body, with a solid connection between the clip and the cap, and the cap screws (not snaps) directly onto the body (not the section). The one thing that disappoints me is that the threading inside the cap is merely a plastic insert, which I expect to wear out before any other component.
To me, the cap posts fine ("posting" meaning putting the cap on the end of the body when writing), but I don't usually do that -- I usually write a short line or message without bothering to post. I'll just hold the cap in my other hand.
The manufacturer (Retro 51) appears to have terrific customer service -- I contacted them to see if there is a converter for the pen (a converter is a small refillable ink cartridge that allows you to refill the pen from a bottle of ink rather than buying new disposable cartridges). They responded quickly and said that they do, although it's smaller capacity than the disposable cartridges. They offered to send me one for free once they have them in stock again.
I consider this a great pen for the price. I paid [...] shipping at Marketfair.
