(More customer reviews)My Waterman Hemisphere set is the best one I've ever had. Nowhere else have I found a ballpoint pen I like as much as this one. The weight is perfect, the mechanism smooth as silk. Plus the actual Waterman refills are the smoothest I've ever used, and they last a long time (I use medium point). No skips, blots, etc. As for the pencil lead, the size has nothing to do with the softness. Softness is variable, so for example, one scale of softest to hardest would be: 6B-5B-4B-3B-2B-B-HB-F-H-2H-3H-4H-5H-6H Pencil makers often use H to indicate a hard pencil, B for blackness (so a BB is very dark), and F to show it sharpens to a fine point. So you'll lots of combinations of these. As for the size of the lead on the Waterman Hemisphere, it's 0.5 mm. (Which you can look up online really easily.) It's a standard size, widely available.
