First off, I'm going to say I'm no fountain pen expert. All of the ink-using writing instruments I've used for calligraphy have been traditional quills (yes, I mean the goosefeather ones) and quill-style pens. So buying a fountain pen was going to be a bit of an adventure for me.
First off, I don't know if people can see it in the pictures (my computer screen is quite dark), but this pen has a spiral design etched into the barrel. It's quite a lovely pen, the gold-colored trim really does well against the pearly-white, and the etching on the nib is lovely. It's a bit heavy, but I actually like that a lot- it's easier to control and it just feels very nice in my fingers.
To address the issue that the other reviewers seem to have experienced- I have had this pen for a few days now and have written a substantial amount, and only once have had to prime the pen after I put it down on its side for 8 hours.
In short:
Pros:
-Beautiful, streamlined design
-Nice weight
-Writes beautifully- I've received many compliments on what I'm able to produce with it
-Efficient with ink
Cons:
-Occasionally have to prime it. But quite honestly, I wasn't expecting any different, and it's not really a problem or annoyance for me.
Do note that this pen also comes with a bottle of ink. However, the included ink has a very blue tone, so I bought this very nice black ink to use instead: Bulletproof BLACK EEL Noodler's Fountain Pen Ink
