I have two Phileas models -- one with a fine width nib, and the other with a medium point. Both models work very well for me, although I give the fine point the edge when it comes to helping my handwriting. The Phileas has become the workhorse pen for me, and I think it is the best value for the money. I rarely leave home without one of them. Of course, fountain pen preferences are incredibly personal and subjective.
The Phileas is easy to hold, even in a large hand, and that helps me. I have other very nice Waterman pens, but fatigue sets in easily, for me at least, when using a pen with a narrower barrel. The pen looks great, and that does count, but most importantly, it is an easy pen to write with for long periods of time.
I use blue-black ink from a bottle, a close friend of mine uses Waterman's brown ink in her Phileas, also using the bottle and converter. We both like the results.
