Word has it that Serenite embodies another brain-child of Palo Alto Research Center (an early stylus?). Its exquisite design, and excellent execution/presentation as done by Waterman, turns this pen into a target for looks and attention. Indeed, the nib is 18K rhodium plated gold, all accents are sterling silver, and, from afar, its curved shape would seem even ergonomic. Did I mention it stands upright?
The actual feel/touch though is a whole different matter. It is very personal and it requires direct experimentation before purchase. With the roller ball, things are simpler since one can turn it any way it feels comfortable. The fountain pen has reduced maneuverability due to its inherent constraints. Holding the pen in writing position introduces a kind of tension in one's hand...
All in all, it is a very dear, well executed, piece of work at the confluence of fashion, design, and art. Don't forget though, especially for the fountain pen, it's personal!
